British Euro Auto Tour

 April 18-19, 2009

Well if your portfolio is about as low as a Super 7’s sump to the road, if your favorite stock has a price line that looks like the curves on the way to Tortilla Flats, then it’s time to forget about all of that and concentrate on the fun you’re about to have.  Welcome to the 12th B.E.A.T. drive and if you look around at your fellow drivers you’ll be in great company.  We’ve got some new things for this tour – especially the stop in Clarkdale.  No stopping in Cottonwood this year.  We’re lucky to have Mark Osier taking the digital pictures in Clarkdale and we’re going to be using as a backdrop – a 1950’s Deco style gas station.  Also, just before the spot for the picture taking will be the contest spot for the “Best Sounding Exhaust” contest with this year’s trophy, designed by Stephen Golde as a traveling trophy. That traveling trophy along with the “Governor’s Trophy” will be handed out Sunday morning just after breakfast.  Parking will be tight in Clarkdale so please watch for the parking assistants – Armand LaCasse / Lynsey & Kyle Kenyon and follow their lead.  Craig Kenyon and I along with Stephen Golde have spend a bunch of time figuring out the best way to park the cars so help us to help you have a good time in Clarkdale.  A super thanks goes out to Lance Johnson who again this year and for several years in the past has driven the route just a week or so prior to your drive this morning to check on highway conditions and detours. Please review his directions and I’m sure everything will be fine.  This year we are pleased to have Karl  & Terri of Redrock Precision Motors out of Sedona providing the chase vehicle. Remember, if you break down and need a tow, you will be taken to the next safe location, going forward on the tour and dropped off. Any other services from Karl will be at your expense, gas, oil etc. Door prizes are being hauled to Flagstaff and you will receive your one ticket from Aubrey Long just prior to the start of the drawing Sunday morning. We will also have special prizes for people depending on their winning certain contests.

As I add this page to the web site we’re very fortunate to have Matt Williams taking care of our web site and his help in keeping things organized.  By now you might be wondering who won our special contest. Well, with a “Regal” sounding horn all the way from Estancia, New Mexico in a beautiful 1953 black & grey Empress Bentley we selected Jock Finley.  Longest driven vehicle again this year, making the event a truly international event was the MGB-GT of Frank DeCarlo of Courtenay, BC. And who do you think won the “Best Sounding Exhaust” contest, Curt Chisholm with His 1994 Red Morgan + 8. And this year’s winner for the “Most Desirable Car” contest was Burch & Joan Pickett’s 1974 green mist 450 SL Mercedes, a truly stunning car and a great choice by Bob Branton & Jeff Hobbs.  Hope you check out the video of the contest and plan on attending next year when the tour will be on April 17-18 2010. If you want to be on the emailing list to be notified when the 2010 registration is available, just email me.
